In order to achieve our trailer, it was crucial that we actually invest some time into planning the layout, structure and pacing so that whilst we were out shooting, we'd both have a better concept of exactly how we wanted to frame the world and because it provided us with a unified vision of exactly how our trailer would look, meaning that all players (videographer, editor, makeup etc) in our project knew what we were working towards. Below is a combination of the storyboards we used in order to appropriately execute our trailer. We used detailed but basic black and white shots in order to create a lot of panels for reference whilst also under captioning them with dialogue and shot types to ensure the exact style of shot was being achieved. Of course, as the production went on, some shots had to be changed or modified based on variables in the world (for example the scale of the part was meant to be a large hall and ended as a smaller house party), certain backdrops were also hard to achieve (such as the omnipresent city skyline or moon figures) as shooting elements like the time of day necessitated some changes.
